Cure Without a Shaker.

Hot-melt adhesive powder has to be cured before a transfer will bond. A powder shaker does this inline and automatically, but shakers cost thousands and take floor space. A curing oven does the same job in batches for a fraction of the price — you powder by hand, then cure a stack.

For low and moderate volume, or a shop where floor space is the binding constraint, an oven is the correct answer, not a compromise.

Model Purpose
Phoenix Air 16×20 Curing Oven DTF adhesive curing. Cures hot-melt powder on printed film. This is the one bundled with Prestige R1 and R2 Pro printers.

Phoenix Air 16×20 — What It's For

  • 16" × 20" cure area — comfortably handles output from 13" desktop printers like the R1 and R2 Pro.
  • Batch curing — cure a stack of powdered sheets at once rather than one at a time under a press.
  • Bundled with R1 and R2 Pro — DTF Station's standard entry-level curing option. If you're buying either printer, the oven configuration is priced better as a bundle than bought separately.
  • Replacement filters available — shared with the Miro 13 (but not the Miro 13 Max, which uses different filters).

Oven or Shaker? An Honest Answer

The oven is cheaper and smaller. The shaker is faster and more consistent. The real difference isn't curing — both cure fine — it's that a shaker also automates powder application, and hand-powdering is where most DTF consistency problems actually come from.

Buy the oven if you're validating demand, printing occasionally, or short on space. Move to a Miro or Seismo shaker once powdering by hand becomes the thing limiting your day. Most shops make that switch sooner than they planned to.

Color Gamut Consulting Support

Cure time and temperature affect final colour density and hand-feel — under-cured transfers look different and fail sooner. When we build your ICC profile we validate against properly cured, pressed output on your actual equipment, so what you approve is what your customer receives.

Important Notes

  • Ventilation: curing adhesive produces fumes. This has a built in fume extractor but consider general room ventilation as well.
  • Filters: the Phoenix Air uses replacement filters — a wear item we stock.
  • Full specifications — power draw, temperature range, cure times — are being confirmed with DTF Station and will be added shortly.
