One File. Most Color Challenges Your Printer Will Face.

Before you hand a customer's job to your printer, you need to know your output is dialed in. This professionally designed test print image covers most critical color scenario in a single graphic — giving you a complete picture of your DTF printer's real-world performance in one print.

Built specifically for DTF workflows, this image is used by Color Gamut Consulting for evaluating printer output, verifying ICC profiles, and diagnosing color problems before they become expensive reprints.

What's Included in the Test Image

  • Solid Color Patches — Pure CMYK primaries and secondaries, plus registration black and white, to evaluate ink density, saturation, and layer consistency.
  • Smooth Gradients — Full-range ramps for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black, plus a composite RGB gradient, to expose banding, head alignment issues, and ink transitions.
  • Greyscale Ramp — A neutral grey scale from 0% to 100% to check white ink layering balance and overall tonal neutrality.
  • Skin Tone Targets — A curated range of human skin tone patches spanning light, medium, and deep complexions to verify accurate, natural rendering — one of the hardest targets for DTF output to hit.
  • Vibrant Colors — Highly saturated RGB primaries to test the upper limits of your ink gamut and white underbase coverage.
  • Subtle / Pastel Colors — Low-saturation tints and muted tones that reveal ink contamination, color casts, and white ink bleed-through in lighter areas.

How to Use It

Open the file in your RIP software (compatible with NeoStampa, Digital Factory, Kothari, and any RIP that accepts standard image formats). Print on your DTF film, cure, and transfer to a test garment or carrier sheet. Evaluate visually or use a spectrophotometer for objective measurement.

Use it to:

  • Verify a new ICC profile after linearization
  • Evaluate a new batch of film, ink, or powder
  • Establish a visual reference baseline for consistent production

File Details

  • Format: High-resolution PNG and PDF (RGB color space)
  • Resolution: 300 DPI — suitable for output at standard DTF print widths
  • Delivery: Instant digital download after purchase

From the Color Profiler's Bench

This test image was designed by Jeremy, founder of Color Gamut Consulting, and used in our own production quality checks and ICC profile evaluations. It's the same file we reach for when a customer says "something looks off" — because it quickly narrows down what is off and where in the color pipeline the problem lives.

If you want to go deeper, pair this with a consulting session to walk through your results.
